Parental Controls: Time Limits broken

I limit my children's computer use to 1/2 hour day (the minimum) and then I add time as I need for them when chores are done, etc.

For two years, they use up the 1/2 hour, then the time expires and I put in my password to add more time. Tonight, when the time expired, I tried to add more time and it keeps simply logging out immediately. I try to login again, it says time has expired, I put in my username/password to give another hour and it logs them out immediately.

The only way I could get my son onto the computer this evening is to go into Parental controls as the admin user and turn it off.

I am having the same issue with time limits not working when parental controls are set. I get logged off immediately when trying to use the managed account. This is very frustrating because it defeats the purpose of having parental controls.

It seems to work if you turn off the bedtime hours settings -- and leave the overall time limits set.

There is definitely bug. Please fix this Apple!

Your milage may vary, but I had a similar problem that I was able to fix by looking through the console log.

First I brought up the console application.

Then I entered "parentalcontrolsd" in the filter.

Then I noticed that parentalcontrolsd was having problems creating a file:

2/2/16 6:54:14.784 PM parentalcontrolsd[2746]: -[ActivityTracker(Private) _createSupportFolders] [194:matthewzeh] -- Couldn't create /Library/Application Support/Apple/ParentalControls/Users/matthewzeh

It turns out that my box didn't have a /Library/Application Support/Apple/ParentalControls/Users directory. Once I created one time limits worked again.
